PlayTest workshop - how to engage your users and keep them engaged!

Details

Do you have a product that requires frequent engagement (at least monthly, perhaps daily?)

Come learn a new framework, in a hands-on fashion, that will show you how habits are formed in the web's most engaging products and help you determine ways to apply this framework to your product.

The framework for a habitual product:

  1. Triggers - External (calls-to-action) and then Internal (an emotion)

  2. Action - What does the customer do when she arrives?

  3. Variable Rewards - The frequent/engaged customer needs to be rewarded.

  4. Investment - The customer makes an investment of some sort (time, money, etc).

We'll explore case studies of existing products who are excelling using these methods.

You'll be guided through the framework and we'll work together to determine how this can be applied to your own project to make habit-forming products that rock.

The schedule will be something like this:

6:00pm - doors open, some drinks and friendly milling around 6:15 pm - presentation & play-testing activities begin 8:30pm - wrap-up & feedback discussion 9:00pm - close Feel free to bring a burrito if you'll get hungry. We will have beer and wine and chips/dip.
